Summer Camp Production at the Franciscan Center
Even though camp registration is closed, we invite you to come watch the production that students will be performing. Come see the show - it will take place at the Franciscan Center at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 4. The performance is free and this year students are performing the comedy: Bestest Bedtime Stories (as told by our grandpa, he’s silly), written by Ed Monk.

More about the 50 Hour Challenge
The TCFF’s 50-hour Challenge is an exciting weekend that invites teams of filmmakers to write, shoot, edit, and publish their own short films in just 50 hours. At the beginning of the event, each team receives a series of elements that must be incorporated into their film – a genre, prop, line of dialogue, character name, and shooting location. The films are juried by a guest panel of judges and various prizes will be awarded after the screening.
THE PARTY - A Celebration of the Arts in Sylvania
Sylvania Arts presents its annual fundraiser, THE PARTY!
Please join us on Thursday, October 7 from 6-9 p.m. at Chandler Café to celebrate the arts in Sylvania and to welcome the newest artists to our Hall of Fame, Ken and Penny Haas of Reverend Guitars. There will be a cash bar and grazing as well as a silent auction.
Tickets are $45/each or $80 per couple. Only 100 tickets are available.
Ken & Penny Haas have built Reverend Guitars into a business building and supplying the best guitars around to musicians of international acclaim, all from their warehouse in Sylvania Township.

Sylvania Community Orchestra at Olander Park
The Sylvania Community Orchestra will perform on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. at Olander Park. This free outdoor concert is open to all ages and will include classical, pop, and jazz selections.
50-Hour Film Challenge Kickoff

The Tree City Film Festival’s 50-hour Challenge is an exciting and intense weekend that invites teams of filmmakers to write, shoot, edit, and publish their own short films in just 50 hours.
Teams must attend the Kickoff on September 17 to receive a series of elements that must be incorporated into their film – things like a particular genre, prop, line of dialogue, character name, and shooting location.
After the allotted 50 hours are over and the films are accepted, they are juried by a guest panel of judges that are currently working in the film industry.
The winning films will be premiered at the Tree City Film Festival on October 16, 2021, followed by an awards ceremony. Awards will be given for first place ($500), second place ($250), and audience choice ($100).

Making Movies with your iPhone
As part of Sylvania Arts Tree City Film Festival programming: Learn how to make films with your iPhone! One day a week for four weeks, participants will meet with an instructor to learn about filmmaking with an iPhone. Each session will be 60 minutes long and will focus on a specific part of filmmaking – pre-production, production, post-production, and exhibition. At the end of the four-week workshop, students will also have an opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with industry pros: Instructor Chris Wegman, Josh Lightle - Filmmaker at Root for 10 years, and Nick Weiss - BGSU grad and commercial Director of Photography in the Cleveland area.

NATURE + ART • Nature Print Wall Hanging
Sylvania Arts is so excited to partner with the Olander Park System to celebrate I Love Olander Day! Enjoy this special nature-inspired project where you will create nature-inspired wall hangings using simple materials.
Limited free project kits will be available at Olander Park from Tuesday, September 29 to Friday, October 2 between 10am and 6pm in the lobby of the Callahan Administrative Office.
Your kit will include a pouch of air-dry clay, twine, and a selection of native plants cut from the gardens at Olander Park & Sylvan Prairie Park (optional). One per person. Registration is NOT required. First-come, first-serve, while supplies last.
Don't worry if you don't make it to the park to get a kit. Colleen provides an easy recipe to make your own DIY air dry clay in the video. Visit TOPS parks or find nature in your back yard to create your masterpiece.
